Description

Deployed 5 Sept 2026 by helicopter from the Swedish icebreaker Oden (Canada-Sweden Arctic Ocean 2026). Installed by Leif Eriksson (Chalmers) for Jack Landy (UiT). Mainly flat floe with some ridges; ice layered with different densities and pockets of liquid water near the surface. Snow measured before drilling; the hole flooded during installation and the slush was trampled, so snow readings under the top sounder may not be representative until new snow accumulates. Also GEM-2 and magnaprobe surveys, one ice core and one snow pit next to the SIMB3, helicopter lidar test. An OpenMetBuoy (ODN ArctSum 02, MET Norway) was installed the same day a few hundred metres away on the same floe.
