Deployed on a a large ice floe measuring 5 km (W-E) by 9 km (N-S), composed of mixed 2nd-yr and multi-yr ice. The flat surface where the IMB was deployed has a thickness of 1.1–1.3 m. A central ridge running NW-SE divides the large floe into distinct northern and southern plains.
