SIMB3s 2024S and 202T were deployed on separate ice floes a few miles apart. Both floes had similar surface conditions, featuring numerous melt ponds and slightly ridged white trails. Ice thickness was less than 1.5 m near the ponds, 1.5–2 m over flat surfaces, and greater than 2 m near the ridged areas. The floes were covered by a thick layer of snow about 10 cm deep.
