The Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC) was a yearlong expedition into the Central Arctic that ran from September 2019 – October 2020. During this record-setting expedition, four Cryosphere Innovation Seasonal Ice Mass Balance buoys (SIMB3s) were deployed as part of a distributed network of instruments that surrounded German icebreaker Polarstern.
In this video, University of Utah PhD student Ryleigh Moore walks through how to deploy an SIMB3 at one of the MOSAiC distributed network sites.
For more technical information about SIMB3, check out the SIMB3 detailed specifications page.
We are grateful to Ryleigh Moore of the University of Utah for preparing this video. The SIMB3s deployed during MOSAiC were funded by the National Science Foundation [grant #: 1724424]

What’s a Rich Text element?
BLOCK QUOTE: The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
PARAGRAPH: A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
